Summer Band Camp for Adults

Hello Fellow Adult Band Members!
We have a new Summer Band Camp for adults, which is at New England Music Camp, near Waterville, Maine.  All adults are welcome, from, “I just started this year,” to “I’m quite proficient,” and including, “Whew, I haven’t played in years!”  There will be two concert bands, a novice/intermediate group and an intermediate/advanced group as well as two swing bands – no auditions; you choose what is best for you.  Camp is the week of August 25-31.

Three notes walk into a bar….

Three notes walk into a bar…..a C, E-flat and G. The bartender says, “sorry, but we don’t serve minors.” So E-flat leaves, and C and G have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the fifth is diminished and G is out flat. F comes in and tries to augment the situation, but is not sharp enough.

D comes in and heads for the bathroom saying, “Excuse me. I’ll just be a second.”

Then A comes in, but the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor.

Taking a Second Chance

With the new year fast approaching perhaps you are thinking about resuming a long lost favourite pastime. If playing an instrument in a Concert Band is beckoning to you and you live in the Charlottetown area then Second Chances Community Band may be for you!

The concert band band meets on Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 with two conductors sharing the evening (Rowan Fitzgerald and Allie McCrady). The cost for the term (approx 10 weeks per trimester) is $45.00 which should be brought to the first practice, January 10, 2012.

TOH

TOH or TOH for saxophones

Many thanks to all who made this evening possible. I'm sure I can speak for the whole band in saying it was a very memorable experience.

Dale (Dr. Lonis) was fun, enthusiastic and extremely clear on many important pointers.

Guest Conducter

On Tuesday October 25 during our regular practice we will have the privilege of working with Dr. Dale Lonis.

It is hoped that you will benefit from the perspective of another point of view on the music which we are working on. Dr. Lonis is a noted clinician, director who has worked for many years in the concert band field.

End of The Year

Another year is almost over for Second Chances Band and there is only one more practice before the final concert. According to Allie's last email there are still a few tickets left and they can be purchased through either Allie or Lorraine.
