Gold Cup Parade

Friday, 18 August 2017 - 9:15am
Good Morning Second Chances Band! Happy Summertime!!
This is your official invitation to participate in the Charlottetown Community Clash Band for this year’s Gold Cup Parade (Friday, August 18th).
As you know, the Clash Band gets together once a year to march, shuffle, meander, walk, dance and march backwards in our August parade, in the most outlandish costumes that you can imagine...  (check out the Facebook group site... Charlottetown Community Clash Band )...  this year’s parade theme is, of course, 150 years of Canada. We also play some great marches in the process and usually quite well, if I do say so myself (...and I do !).
If you go to that facebook group site, keep scrolling down a ways, and you will find printable PDFs of all the marches we will be doing this year.
We rehearse twice before the parade...the first meeting will be at the Queen Charlotte band room on Sunday evening, August 13th at 7 pm. We’ll read through the marches a couple of times, maybe work on a couple of things and discuss logistics. The second meeting is also at Queen Charlotte, the evening before the parade, Thursday, August 17th, and it is our MARCHING rehearsal which also starts at 7 pm and is followed by a party at Frank McK’s place in Sherwood.
Next morning we meet at Queen Charlotte at 9:15 ish to run a tune and” form up” for the event.
If you’re interested in being involved this year you will need a lyre ( marching music folder holder) , a marching folder for the march cards, and a costume, which can be anything you like !
The emphasis is on good playing , good fun and a community service for the 60,000 or so people who will enjoy the band on Friday, August 18.
Come and join us !!
